Final reflection

Sadly this will be my last post the this Katy Perry blog. I will be talking about what I learned about Katy and what I found challenging and most rewarding in doing this blog.

What I learned about Katy Perry is that her main achievement to me is that she is the first women ever to reach 5 songs to a number one hit. No other women has done that, nor has anyone but Michael Jackson.

I also learned about her favorite foods. During this project I learned that she loves Thai food, ice cream, spaghetti, and Mexican food. We have a lot in common! I also like Mexican food, spaghetti and ice cream. I also love every song she wrote except the one in the Katy Hudson album that I haven't listen too yet.

The most challenging thing during this Katy Perry blog is finding certain information about her. It was more challenging during the process in finding what she accomplish and what she had recently did in the world.

Also it was a bit challenging in finding pictures of Katy that fit the subject that I was blogging about. Or the picture would just disappear off of my blog and leave a big empty black space on my posts.

What was the most rewarding about doing this blog process is that I learned and studied about someone that I've loved for a long time. I have been a big Katy Perry fan since for over 7 years. Since she wrote "Mockingbird". This has been fun taking some time during school and learn about someone you love for a month.

Another thing that was most awarding is that I learned about a lot of her achievements. Learning about someone that you admire for over a month is great but learning about the great and awesome things they achieve is another fantastic thing to learn. Also I learned about what really happen with the marriage with Russell Brand.

That is why I would like to reflect back on what were the challenging parts of this blog, most rewarding and the things I learned.

The five greatest things

As I reach the end of my Katy Perry blog I will like to reflect on her accomplishments are. Also these are the accomplishments I think are big. The top 5 accomplishments are Marriage, awards, 1st album, multiple Grammy nominations, and 5 songs number one hit.

Marriage, Katy got married to Russell Brand. They started dating in September of 2009. Married in October 23, 2010 divorced shortly after July 16, 2011. " Russell feels there's no point in being married if you don't have kids," an unnamed source told the magazine, adding that, at 37, the comedian is "is ready to move on." Even thou this was a failed marriage it's still an achievement because she married someone famous right before she became famous.(Huffingtonpost)

Katy was nominated and have won multiple awards. Katy Perry is ranked 46 overall in most awards received. She received around 30 awards. She was nominated for over 160 awards. "She's one award behind Bruce Springsteen and tied with Kenny Rodgers, Frank Sinatra and Alanis Morissette." This was important because she was nominated for a lot of awards in the 3 years she was a big hit.(Meteolyrics)

Katy Perry's first album ever released when she was 17 called "Katy Hudson." Even thou it was a gospel record album. "It reached literally maybe about 100 people and the label went bankrupt." This is an important achievement in your life to achieve because even thou it failed she had an album out for people to purchase. (Biography )

Katy was also nominated for multiple Grammy nominations. Her first Grammy nomination ever was back in 2009 for "Best Female Pop Vocal Performance." In 2010 she was nominated a Grammy for "Best Female Pop Vocal Performance" for her song "Hot N Cold". In 2011 her album Teenage Dream was nominated for two Grammys "Album of the Year" & "Best Pop Vocal Album". Also in 2011 her song "Teenage Dream" was nominated for the "Best Female Pop Vocal Performance". Also her song "California Girls ft. Snoop Dog" was nominated for "Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals". Lastly in 2012 Katy's song "Firework" is nominated for 2 Grammys "Record of the Year" & "Best Pop Solo Performance". The main reason why I think they are achievement is because being nominated for a Grammy is a huge thing to accomplish. (Googlesites)

Her top achievement ever she achieve to me is 5 songs made number 1 hits. From her teenage dream album "Firework, E.T., Teenage Dream, California Gurls, and Last Friday Night." She is the first women to ever achieve this and she is the second person to do this. Michael Jackson achieved this first. "If you were me, you've probably heard all of these songs everywhere and couldn't get them out of your head for days." This is a big accomplishment because no one else has ever done this before and she has. (Yahoo)

Does Multi-Tasking Effect Your School Work?

Research shows that a lot of students in the US listen to music while they are studying. Even high achieving students admit in doing this! It helps motivate me when I'm at home or even at school doing homework or just studying. When I listen to music while working on school work I usually listen to Katy Perry. These articles helped me find these information;  phenoix.edu and takelessons.com

Should you listen to music while studying? Scientist proved that music with many repeated sections are more likely to become a distraction with you and your school work. Also it is not benefiting for our memory, the brain receives, stores, organizes and recovers information as memory.

Can listening to music help memorize materiel you study? Listening to music enhances your brain but also your using all parts if your brain when you multi task. The right hemisphere gets used when you listen to music and left hemisphere when you study. While you do this your entire brain gets used.

"Don't wait until the night before a big test to determine if listening to music is a good study tool." Listening to music can be beneficial. Scientist proved that listening to Classical music, or any other type with out lyrics, is the best type of music to listen to while you are studying. Also listening to Classical music causes no distractions.

"Music while studying is as distraction." The differences the two sources share is that some say listening to music is a distraction while your studying. But it also helps motivate students while they are studying. They can also remember the materiel they study by making up their own lyrics to a song.

When ever I do my homework I usually listen to Katy Perry. I sometimes listen to another artist but
usually I listen to Katy Perry. Listening to music when I studying it helps me a lot by motivating me.

History of pop music

The history of pop music, pop means popular, and it's remained the defining term for the ever-changing music favored by the public. Although not specifically applied until the middle of the 20th century, pop music as such can be traced by a few decades before that.

You could say that the songs of music hall were the first real pop songs, written by professionals and widely performed for audiences. That dates back to the Victorian era, when a performer needed a catchy, identifiable song. (Credit to)

Things changed with the advent of recording pop music, early in the 20th century. With that, music had the chance to be much more widely spread across the world. Records, played at 78 rpm on wind-up gramophones, were relatively cheap back then. In America, that led to a group of professional songwriters in New York who wrote pieces intended to be recorded and sell well. They were largely hacks, but did produce some beautiful material.(Credit to)

Katy Perry started writing pop songs in the late 2000's. Her first pop song she wrote was "I kissed a girl" written in 2008. "Have I ever kissed a girl? Of course I have. I can't sing a song and not have done it. That'd be complete hypocrisy. I fancy Scarlett Johansson, Natalie Portman and Angelina Jolie - I'd definitely kiss them." Katy said to a reporter.(Credit to)

Katy's latest hit pop single is "Wide Awake". She wrote this on March 13, 2012. The reason why she wrote "Wide Awake" is because of the identical reason why she wrote "Part of Me" earlier that year. She was bashing her ex husband Russell Brand the words read: “I wish I knew then what I know now, Wouldn’t dive in, wouldn’t bow down, Gravity hurts, You made it so sweet ’til I woke up on the concrete.” (Credit to) (To see her lyrics)

Favorite foods

One of Katy's favorite foods are different kinds of Thai foods. What made me want to look up a Thai recipe is because I never had Thai food before and this spiked an interest in me. This dish is called Thai chicken fried rice. (Kao Pad Krapo). I hope you enjoy!

2 table spoons of oil
3 cloves of garlic, minced
1 table spoon of fresh thai red chili peppers
8 ounces of boneless skinless chicken breast cut into bite size
2 cups of cold cooked rice
1 table spoon of sugar
1 tablespoon of fish sauce
1 table spoon of soy sauce
2 table spoon of chopped shallots
1/3 cup of basil
1 table spoon of fresh cilantro
Recipe found Here
1
In a wok or large skillet, stir-fry garlic in oil until golden; then add chilies and chicken and stir-fry until chicken is cooked.
2
Add rice, sugar, fish sauce, and soy sauce, and stir-fry, mixing gently.
3
When well mixed, add shallots, basil leaves and cilantro; cook another minute and serve.

Now that you finish cooking maybe you should call up Katy and tell her what's for dinner. I bet she will like to have a dinner date ;)

Long quote

Believe it or not Katy Perry is into super heroes. She recently did a movie review for the new "Spider Man" movie staring Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone along with some critics that did a movie review for her documentary film that made them wonder who Katy really is.

The Washington Post stated:
Although there are moments when the filmmakers’ fingerprints are nearly visible on the manipulated putty of an audience, the scenes aren’t enough to break the fruit-flavored spell," the Post says in its review. "Fan or not, it’s hard not to give in to Perry’s endearing charms. The filmmakers clearly want the audience to like the singer - and is that such a bad thing? She is, after all, cute as a cotton-candy-pink button.

The New York Times published:
Does 'Part of Me' plumb the depths of her soul? Hardly," the paper says. "As billed, it's a part of Perry she's willing to share. Her skimpy outfits reveal more than this smartly crafted film, which plays up Perry's effervescent personality and colorful biography without exposing a private life she has guarded since 'I Kissed a Girl' stormed the charts in 2008. Expect a big juicy screen kiss, not a kiss-and-tell. (Marquee quotes)

Informational

Focused on her music, Perry got her GED and moved to Los Angeles to work with producer and songwriter Glen Ballard, who had worked with such artists as Christina Aguilera and Alanis Morissette. She was only 17 years old at time, and being on her own proved tough. "It was five years of living in L.A. with no money, writing bad checks, selling my clothes to make rent, [and] borrowing money," she told Seventeen magazine. Perry also experienced a string of disappointments before getting her big break.

An executive at Columbia recommended Perry to the chairman of Virgin Records, Jason Flom, which resulted in her signing for Capitol Music Group. She recorded her second album, "One of the Boys" and in the Spring of 2008 released the lead single, the controversial "I Kissed a Girl". The song proved a smash, hitting the number one slot in several countries. Other hit singles followed and the album was a commercial success.

Perry was now established as a pop superstar and cemented her position with the release of her next album "Teenage Dreams", which spawned more huge hits including "California Gurls" and "Firework". Many awards and music industry records followed. In 2012 Perry made the move into movies, releasing the documentary feature film Katy Perry: Part of Me.

When her single "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" from her hit album "Teenage Dream" went to number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in August 2011, the album became only the second album after Michael Jackson's "Bad" to generate five #1 singles. Perry became the first female artist to achieve this feat. "I've lived such a fantastic life already, but there's still so much more"(Katy Perry)
